Overcoming Legal Barriers as a mechanism for the struggle for rights of vulnerable populations in the EECA region

Injection drug users remain the most vulnerable to HIV in the EECA region. Combining efforts of people who use drugs to influence the drug policies oftheir countries, as well as developing strategies and plans for influencing drug policy changes at the regional level is one of the key tasks in the fight against the HIV epidemic in the EECA region.
The participants will exchange experience in protecting the rights of PWUD, gain new skills in monitoring and documenting violations of rights, legal assistance in administrative and criminal cases, use of international human rights mechanisms (UN and ECHR), outline possible tasks and plans.
The session will discuss:
- Involvement of representatives of the community of people who use drugs from EECA countries in processes related to their activities in the context of HIV and the development of their personal potential.
- Monitoring of violations of the rights of drug users by the community, theuse of international UN human rights mechanisms. Strategic cases: ECHRand individual complaints to the UN
- Sexual and reproductive health and rights of women who use drugs
- Health, Rights and Access to Health Care for HIV Prisoners in the EECA Region
